Diagnostic Labs: Bringing Fair Isaac-caliber analytics to the world of genomic data

Fair Isaac's vision for its BioAnalytics unit is to provide new and industry-changing scores that can drive critical decisions in the healthcare of animals and humans. Our BioAnalytics team is applying and extending Fair Isaac's core expertise in advanced pattern recognition and predictive modeling to the world of genomic data.

Fair Isaac and BioAnalytics

The Human Genome project, completed in 2003, revealed the sequence of some 3 billion base pairs that make up human DNA. Genetic sequences from hundreds of thousands of organisms have been compiled in public archives such as GenBank.

Within that voluminous data, there are valuable clues that may help solve pressing health problems - the challenge is finding them and using them to make valuable predictions for patients and physicians.

As the leader in data mining and predictive analytics, Fair Isaac is addressing this challenge, starting with robust detection of infectious disease with FastPanel™ diagnostics, a breakthrough tool that enables veterinarians to identify multiple pathogens and parasites in a single test.

Beyond pathogen detection, Fair Isaac's bio-analytic capabilities have applicability to some of the "grand challenges" for predictive medicine, including:

  • Pharmacogenomics
  • Early cancer diagnosis and tumor typing
  • Enhanced epidemiology and outbreak surveillance
  • Predictive vaccine design

Solving these challenges will require the kind of breakthroughs in data mining and predictive analytics for which Fair Isaac is renowned.
